Many people have been asking us, ‘what is the quietest dehumidifier?‘ We decided to do some research and try and find the quietest dehumidifier and we found it! Lots of people need a dehumidifier but they don’t want it to be too noisy. People like myself need to run dehumidifiers in bedrooms, where noise can be an issue. A quiet dehumidifier solves this problem and lets you enjoy the benefits of a dehumidifier anywhere in the home!
The quietest Dehumidifier is the Meaco ABC Range 10L. It offers amazing specifications and is one of the most energy-efficient and quiet dehumidifiers you can buy. This is one of our overall favourite models and we recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet dehumidifier.
Quietest Dehumidifier –Meaco ABC 10l Dehumidifier
The Meaco ABC 12L dehumidifier is the quietest 10/12L dehumidifier available today. We love it because it has a great price, is energy efficient, offers great value and is super quiet at only 35dB. It is normal for 12L dehumidifiers to be noisier than this and produce up to 50dB of noise. We take a more in-depth look at one of our favourite dehumidifiers down below.
There is a lot to love about this dehumidifier. We think very highly of the Meaco brand and have reviewed many of their dehumidifiers before.
This one stands tall amongst the competition because it is incredibly quiet for a 12L dehumidifier, producing only 35 dB of noise. You will barely notice this dehumidifier while it goes to work.
As well as being extremely quiet, it is also one of the most energy-efficient dehumidifiers we have reviewed. This means that whilst it quietly extracts moisture, it won’t be breaking your bank account with high energy bills.
Do I Need a Dehumidifier?
If you are experiencing problems with damp or condensation, then yes, you would probably benefit from a dehumidifier. They are the most effective way of removing unwanted moisture and condensation from the home, fast. In milder countries such as the UK, they are particularly effective in winter. During winter, we often seal off our homes and produce moisture through daily activities such as cooking and showering and drying clothes. The result of this is a lot of trapped humidity which tends to condense on surfaces such as walls and windows.
This excessive moisture can be bad for our homes and for our health. It is a well-known fact that excessive moisture is a breeding ground for mould and allergens such as dust mites. Seeing mould growing on your walls or hidden behind a wardrobe can be quite startling and is not something I would recommend for anyone.
Simply put, a dehumidifier is the best way to eliminate excess moisture. We advise that people buy a dehumidifier that has good capacity, is energy efficient and quiet.
How Many Decibels is a Dehumidifier
On average, the vast majority of dehumidifiers produce between 35db and 55db of noise. This might not sound like a big difference, but because of the special way decibels work, it actually is. For example, 30-35db is roughly like a quiet room or a whisper and 50db is like moderate rainfall. This is why it’s important to check the sound that a dehumidifier produces before buying.
Why Buy A Quiet Dehumidifier?
Most people never consider noise when purchasing a dehumidifier. Once they actually plug it in and begin using it however, some people are surprised by how noisy they can actually be. Even mini dehumidifiers can be surprisingly loud considering how small they are.
People tend to buy a dehumidifier at random and then become unhappy with their purchase when they realise how noisy it is. Here is the truth, many dehumidifiers are noisier than you think. In fact, many manufacturers often don’t tell you how many decibels their dehumidifier produces. Sometimes, manufacturers actually lie about how noisy their products are. We have purchased dehumidifiers advertised as ‘whisper quiet’ only to find out that they are actually a lot louder than a whisper.
This might not be a problem if you intend to use it in your garage or basement. If you intend to use it in a living area or bedroom, however, it can be a problem. For example, if you have moisture problems in your bedroom and living room, do you really want to have to watch tv or sleep with a noisy dehumidifier?
The answer for most people is, absolutely not! And rightly so, we all enjoy our beauty sleep and like to relax after a hard day in peace. We don’t need a noisy dehumidifier getting in the way of that, do we?
The Best Quiet Dehumidifiers

Best Quiet Dehumidifier – Meaco ABC 12L Dehumidifier review
One of the best all-around dehumidifiers and definitely one of the quietest. Features an excellent 12L/day capacity and a massive 2.6L water tank. It looks cool and sleek and would fit in nicely in almost any living space. To top it off, this quiet dehumidifier uses a tiny 160 watts of electricity. This means it costs 2-3p an hour to run on average, this is truly remarkable and a reason we love it.
The not so good
Unfortunately, you can’t change the direction of the air coming out of the dehumidifier with a movable louvre.

Budget Quiet Dehumidifier – Inventor Fresh 12L Dehumidifier
We know that not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money on a dehumidifier. This is why we found the quietest budget dehumidifier we could. We were not disappointed when we found the Inventor Fresh 12L.
The reason this made the cut is the 12L capacity, 2L water tank and incredible SILENT MODE. This gives you the unique option of activating silent mode whenever you want to relax, watch tv or go to sleep. It is quite a rare feature on a dehumidifier.
The not so good
Because it is cheaper, it is not as energy efficient as the Meaco ABC 12L, is also has a smaller water tank and is a lesser-known brand.
Best Quiet Mini Dehumidifier – Auzkin 600ml Dehumidifier
Some of you may be looking for a quiet mini dehumidifier. We can tell you the Auzkin 600ml is one of the quietest. It produces a tiyn 35dB of noise which is very quiet. As far as mini dehumidifiers go it has good features, a 250ml/day water extraction capacity and a 600ml water tank. We also love that it only uses 23 watts of electricity! Very cheap to run.
The not so good
It will not extract much water compared to our other two picks. If you have a widespread damp issue, this dehumidifier might not be powerful enough.
